The History Of Sour Gummy Worms

Ok guys so this is just a follow-up of my last post. Its going to talk about the history of sour gummy worms and how to make them. (You can thank Kristen for this post)

History:
-A german candy maker, Hans Reigel came up with the gummy candy concept in 1922. The candy was first made in the form of gummy bears and it wasn't shipped to America until 1981. Then, American candy company, Trolli developed the gummy worm. The intent of it was to give children something fun to eat, while having fun shocking their parents. Sour gummy worms are one of the most popular gummy characters around.

How they are made:
An artist sketches the character or design that they want the candy to be. It is then sketched into a small plaster mold. Once it gets to the factory, candy makers pour ingredients like gelatin, sugar, and glucose syrup into big boilers. The ingredients are heated and then colors and flavors are added. The mix is then poured into the molds and left for five days. Beeswax is then added so the worms aren't sticky.

So once again, enjoy the gummy worms! :)
